Santa Express departs Nov. 22

Local News - Children are being asked to exchange a handmade Christmas card for a boarding pass to ride the 19th annual Santa Express Nov. 22.

The annual train ride to the North Pole is sponsored by the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission and is free for about 650 children four to nine years of age. Santa Claus and some of his elves will be picked up to join the children for the return trip.

Boarding passes are available at Jackman Flower Shop on Worthington Street East, McDonald’s Restaurant at Lakeshore Drive and McKeown Avenue and customer care at Northgate Shopping Centre.

Boarding begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Northgate Square food court entrance, with departure at 10 a.m. and return at 11:30 a.m. People are invited to bring non-perishable food items for local charities.
